Years ago, I remember feeling completely drained after a long day of teaching. My body was tense, my mind was running in circles, and I couldn’t shake the feeling of exhaustion. I knew I needed a shift—but not by forcing my energy up, not by pushing through.
Instead, I stood up, bent my knees, and started shaking.
At first, it felt silly. But as I wiggled my arms, bounced my knees, and let my body move, something changed. My shoulders loosened. My breath deepened. My mind softened. In just a few moments, I felt a real shift—not just in my energy but in my entire perspective.
Shifting energy isn’t always about lifting yourself up. Sometimes, it’s about letting go—releasing tension, shaking off what no longer serves you, and allowing your body to reset.
Qigong gives us tools to do this daily. And one of the simplest? Shaking.
Try this:
Stand up and bounce your knees
Shake your arms—wiggle your hips
Let your whole body join in
If it feels right, make a sound - a sigh, or 'pick a vowel' or high-to-low or low-to-high
Shaking wakes up your system. It moves stuck energy. It reconnects you to a clear mind, an open heart, and a body that feels free.
There’s no shortcut to healing—no hack to bypass what your body is telling you. But when you move your energy, you shift your experience.
